Zhuk

ZHUK

Zhuk was born in 1992 into a family of artists. His grandfather, Igor Zhuk, was a famous artist active during the Soviet period and a leading exponent of Socialist Realism, as was his mother, Anastasiya Zhuk, who subsequently continued on her own artistic path. The creative atmosphere breathed in the family certainly influenced the artist’s professional choices, which took shape when he attended the St. Petersburg School of Art, where he laid the foundations for the creation of his individual style.

Zhuk’s creative production revolves around classical figurative painting presented in a contemporary key. The colour relationship and simultaneous contrast, together with the composition, create a depth of movement that expands beyond the boundaries of the canvas. He also applies the transfer of the technique learned during his artistic experience into the digital world, as the exploration of writing with a real tassel offers the possibility of creating digital art in his own personal style.

His last publication was on 29.10.2021 in the magazine ImagineFX. He has been a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Artists since 2013, while in 2017 he participated in the creation of three art projects for the exhibition “UNDER ONE SUN”, representing Azerbaijan at the 57th edition of the Venice Biennale.
